I have received an alert from our forcibly displaced young compatriots about the discriminatory treatment of Artsakh students at universities.
Students being in a difficult psychological state have emphasized that professors show obvious bias towards them, emphasizing the circumstance that their appearance in universities of the Republic of Armenia is causing unnecessary problems.
In this regard, I spoke with the Rector of the Yerevan State University (YSU) Hovhannes Hovhannisyan about the imperative not to put unnecessary psychological pressure on our already sensitive compatriots and not to isolate them in public. We agreed that the latter will strictly demand from the teaching staff to be respectful towards the young people of Artsakh. I emphasized that they deserve equal treatment from their compatriots.
I shall maintain a consistent approach, not limited to YSU alone, but encompassing all universities within the Republic of Armenia, in addressing and resolving recurring issues of concern. In the event of recurring instances of conduct that is inconsistent with the standards expected of higher educational institutions, I will make public the names of professors who have exhibited unacceptable behavior.
