AmCham is an independent business association operating in Armenia and represents the interests of 175 member companies

I highlight the work with the institutional associations and I congratulate the new Board Members on being elected: The Deputy Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan said during the work discussion with the members of the NGO the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham).

It took place on November 9, where the members of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Hovik Aghazaryan, David Arushanyan, Narek Ghahramanyan and Tsovinar Vardanyan also took part.

The Board member of the organization Tigran Jrbashyan, informing that about 374 business associations are registered in Armenia, noted that the AmCham is an organization founded on the basis of membership fees. He underscored that similar business associations operating in Armenia are very few. AmCham is an independent business association operating in Armenia and represents the interests of 175 member companies.

To create more favourable business environment and to foster the best business experience the AmCham cooperated with the American Embassy in Armenia and the RA Government, the international organizations and business community. ArmCham is a member of US Chamber of Commerce and European Council of American Chambers of Commerce.

A number of themes were included in the agenda of the discussion. In particular, the role of the state-business dialogue, the ensuring of the competitive healthy environment, the measures aimed at the workforce development and the tax legislation reforms.

Babken Tunyan presented the general approaches on the agenda items. Speaking about the role of the state-private sector dialogue, he noted that there are different platforms, which are not always effective to ensure the dialogue. Touching upon the issues on the competitive healthy environment and the tax legislation reforms, Babken Tunyan emphasized the ensuring of predictability, stressing that the legislation designs some containment mechanisms for market protection. Speaking about workforce, he underscored the simplification of the processes aimed at the elimination of the inappropriate bureaucracy. He proposed to observe the platform formed with the organization as a bridge for joint solving the emerged issues.

David Arushanyan attached importance to the activity of such structure, noting that they would be able to help the businessmen decreasing the risks in the conditions of numerous challenges facing Armenia. In this context the problem of making aware of the entities was stresses. In the state-private sector it was mentioned that the format and the toolset of the dialogue should be equivalent. The necessity of formation of the institutional system was emphasized.

The members of the organization presented their observations and proposals in the issues under discussion. An agreement was reached to hold discussions and to organize regular meetings on the issues demanding urgent solution.
