The adoption of the draft will give an opportunity to the residents of about 82 communities and settlements receiving social support as compensation for gas, electricity, water irrigation, as well as make use of the other compensation programmes by the decision of the RA Government. The RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Vache Terteryan said this.
The draft law on Amending the law on Social support of border communities was debated in the first reading at the sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection on November 10.
The abovementioned law was adopted in 2014, the term of the law in force was extended twice. According to the law in force, from January 1, 2024 the term ends. It is proposed by the draft to extend the term of the law in force for 3 years. “It is evident that the border settlements still need social support,” the key rapporteur noted.
The draft was endorsed.
