The Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan received Sergey Kopirkin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia.
Welcoming the guest, Anahit Manasyan stated that cooperation in the field of human rights protection is crucial. The Defender especially emphasized that guaranteeing and protecting the rights of the Russian community of Armenia as well as the rights of persons belonging to communities of other national minorities are among the priorities of her work.
In this context, Anahit Manasyan stated that the activities of forming the Council for the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons Belonging to National Minorities adjunct to the Defender are currently in progress, in which representatives of the Russian community are also included.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Defender presented a number of issues related to the protection of the rights of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, referred to the existing issues and needs, as well as the fact-finding activities conducted by her and the staff of the Defender’s office, during which the deaths, tortures, disrespect of bodies, and mutilations among civilians, as well as other cases prohibited by international law recorded as a result of Azerbaijani aggression were summarized in the preliminary ad hoc report of the Human Rights Defender.
In his turn, Sergey Kopirkin expressed his gratitude for the reception, emphasizing his readiness to continue cooperation with the Defender’s office.
