Now, it is a crisis situation in many countries, and it is very important that now we have a place where we can discuss security issues. Knowing what happened and what is taking place in Nagorno Karabakh, that issue is very important for the OSCE PA more than ever. The President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pia Kauma said, answering to the journalists’ questions.
“What the expectations from the Autumn Meeting and the statement that will be made in the near future on Nagorno Karabakh theme?” the journalist inquired.
“First of all I would like to mention on behalf of the OSCE PA that we thank Armenia for hosting the OSCE PA Autumn Meeting in the challenging period, which we face in Eurasia now. We will also discuss all, what’s going on in Armenia, in Nagorno Karabakh, as well as the discussions and negotiations on the peace treaty. The negotiations on the peace treaty are in the progress.
On Monday, we’ll discuss all that takes place in Israel, in Gaza Strip, which our parliamentarians were waiting for. We also won’t forget what’s happening between Russia and Ukraine, which began from February 2022. That issue has been on the agenda of our discussion for a long time. Our parliamentarians related to this issue raised their voice and had big discussions,” Pia Kauma noted.

The journalists also inquired the OSCE PA about the destructive policy of Azerbaijan and threat regarding the territorial integrity of Armenia. Pia Kauma noted that before coming to Armenia she had a two-day visit also in Azerbaijan.
“There I had an impression that they are ready for negotiations for peace, nevertheless, that is the message that they wish to convey. I would like to believe the probability and possibility that a peace treaty will be signed. We hope that during the weeks it will happen. We, as an organisation, encourage both sides to continue the negotiations and seek for new opportunities, in case of which they can sign a treaty, as this region is very important for all of us. In economic aspect it is also very important, there are many opportunities, but first of all, we should ensure peace,” she said. Pia Kauma noticed that the investors still have doubts coming here. “I believe that the citizens of Armenia deserve peace, and it is high time to find new ways for peace. We, as an organisation, and me personally, support the Armenian people in order to find a way for peace,” Pia Kauma underscored.
Let us note that on November 18-20 is taking place the work of the Autumn Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
