As a member of the Armenia-Belgium Friendship Group, today together with a group of MPs we had a meeting with the members of the Belgium-Armenia Friendship Group headed by Mark Demesmaeker, in Armenia.
I drew the attention of my Belgian colleagues to the issues of 120,000 Artsakh Armenians who were forcibly displaced after the painful loss of the second Armenian republic, to the security challenges of Armenia.
I emphasized that while our compatriots will return to Artsakh in the presence of strong international guarantees, there is an issue of preserving Armenian historical and cultural heritage, graves and the property of Artsakh Armenians. People closed the doors and left, bringing almost nothing with them.
I articulated the imperative for the prompt repatriation of the Armenian prisoners of war, kidnapped civilians, the recommencement of efforts to locate the missing persons, emphasizing the inviolable requirement of these actions within the framework of international law.

“The international law does not work in our region, because even the decisions made by the International Court of Justice remained incomplete by Azerbaijan: the international community should make efforts in this direction,” I concluded my speech, thanking the members of the Friendship Group for their work.
