On November 30, at the regular sitting the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport debated the issue on proposing candidacies of Hasmik Hakobyan and Nune Hakhverdyan nominated by the RA NA Civil Contract Faction for the vacancies of the RA Commission on Television and Radio (CTR) and on proposing candidates on that position to the National Assembly.
The Committee Chair Sisak Gabrielyan informed that at the RA CTR at this moment there are 3 vacancies, and only the RA NA Civil Contract Faction nominated candidacies within the specified period.
The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction, the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport Taguhi Ghazaryan presented the Hasmik Hakobyan’s candidacy. She informed that Hasmik Hakobyan is a Literary Scholar, Candidate of Philological Sciences. She has Bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University, Master’s degree of the same faculty, then defended PhD thesis. In different journals and newspapers, she published more than 50 scientific and critical articles, in 2001-2023 edited and prepared for publication about 2 dozens of literary works.

“If I am trusted the opportunity of working in this position, I will be obliged to add reading, analyzing and criticizing programmes in the television companies. It is important that multi-content speech will sound in the air, the freedom of speech will not be violated, it will be deprived of stereotypes and violence,” the candidate.
The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction, the member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport Hasmik Hakobyan presented the next candidate, Nune Hakhverdyan, for the vacancy of the RA CTR. The MP informed that Nune Hakhverdyan studied and graduated the Faculty of Art Studies at Yerevan State Arta and Theatre Institute. worked on the websites and journals as a journalist and media-analyst in 1984-1998, worked in the RA State Radio Company in 1990-1997. She joins and cooperates with a number of local and international federations, associations, festivals and funds. She knows Armenian, Russian and English.
Thanking the Faction for presenting her candidacy, Nune Hakhverdyan highly appreciated the role of the CTR as an analyzing and regulating body.
“I highly emphasize the CTR factor: There is no other competent structure in our country, I believe there isn’t,” the candidate said.
The MPs addressed questions to the candidates, which referred to the fake news, the laws of media regulation, the public service news content, imposing sanctions in the sphere and other topics.
The Committee members approved the candidacies Hasmik Hakobyan and Nune Hakhverdyan nominated for the vacancy of the RA Commission on Television and Radio.
