Negotiations were held at the level of Foreign Ministers in Washington, and at the level of Heads of states in Brussels, during which the principle issues regarding the expected Peace Agreement were agreed upon. And it is very important that this process continues and the negotiations do not return to the zero point again. The Armenian side is always ready for negotiations, but during the last months we see that Azerbaijan avoids negotiations and does not take part in them. We expect our partners to be able to bring Azerbaijan to the negotiation table.
The deputy of the RA NA Civil Contract Faction, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan said this while answering the journalist’s question during the parliamentary briefings, which referred to the position of the Armenian side regarding the proposal to hold Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations on the Moscow platform.
According to the Secretary of the NA Civil Contract Faction Arthur Hovhannisyan, it is paramount for the Republic of Armenia to maintain the principles on those platforms where the negotiations will be held. “There are processes the continuity of which is extremely important, and we will move forward with this logic.”
Touching upon the readiness of the Armenian side to sign the Peace Agreement by the end of the year, Sargis Khandanyan noted. “Armenia is ready if all the fundamental issues that Armenia raises and on which there was an agreement, are reaffirmed and find a place in the Agreement.”
