The RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs continued the debate of the draft law on Tourism and the enclosed package of drafts in the second reading on December 22, which was interrupted the previous day.
The key rapporteur, the RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan noted that the legislative package will be of key importance in the development of the sector. According to the Minister, the package highlights the directions and perspectives of the development of the field for the upcoming 5-10 years.
Touching upon the proposals presented by the deputies, Vahan Kerobyan stated that the main part of them was accepted in full, and the rest was taken into consideration. According to him, the amended legislative package is a consensus version.
The deputy of the NA Armenia Faction, the Committee member Tadevos Avetisyan asked how much burden this would add to small and medium enterprises.

In response, the RA Minister of Economy mentioned that the implementation of the legislative package will contribute to the development of small and medium enterprises engaged in tourism. According to Vahan Kerobyan, the Government has a programme that subsidizes companies operating in the sector.
The importance of implementation of control functions of the Government in the field was also underscored.
During the exchange of ideas, the deputies mainly stressed the necessity for legislative regulation of the sector.
The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan highlighted the united, comprehensive and effective work on the legislative package.
The Committee members first accepted all the submitted proposals by voting, and then endorsed the revised version of the draft law on Tourism and the enclosed package of drafts.
