The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched a probe into the ethnic cleansing in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), and the circumstances of the forced exile of Artsakh Armenians are being investigated as part of it, Investigative Committee Chairman Argishti Kyaramyan told the Public TV Company in an interview on Thursday.
He said 223 people, including 25 civilians, were killed and 244 others were wounded in Azerbaijan’s military aggression against Artsakh on September 19-20.
As many as 20 Artsakh Armenians, including 5 civilians, remain unaccounted for.
“20 cases of body mockery have been recorded,” Kyaramyan said, citing the results of expert examinations.

He noted that around 70 people died during the mass exodus of Artsakh’s population resulting from the Azerbaijani military offensive.
“This is mainly due to the enormous psychological stress our compatriots were exposed to. If I am not mistaken, about 70 civilians died at the time,” Kyaramyan added.
