Luxembourg is a friendly country for Armenia: Arman Yeghoyan

Luxembourg is a friendly country for Armenia. In recent years, when our country was passing through many difficulties, Luxembourg was one of the first countries in the world that adequately reacted to the created challenges. The member of the NA Friendship Group Armenia-Luxembourg, the Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan said, welcoming the delegation led by the Deputy Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg David Weis in parliament.

The members of the NA Friendship Group Armenia-Luxembourg Hasmik Hakobyan and Arpine Vardanyan took part in the meeting held on January 25.

Arman Yeghoyan highly appreciated the participation of Luxembourg in the EU Observation Mission. According to the MP, the Mission carries out an important security function for Armenia.

Arman Yeghoyan spoke about the situation in the region, highlighted the role of the EU member states, including Luxembourg in the establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus. The deputy presented to the guest the Crossroads of Peace project presented by the RA Government.

Welcoming the guests, the member of the Friendship Group Hasmik Hakobyan voiced the issues of the Azerbaijani encroachments against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia after the 44-day war and the Armenian captives being held in Azerbaijan. “Azerbaijan consistently continues to remove the Armenian trace from the Nagorno Karabakh territory,” the MP underscored and added that there are numerous proofs on destruction of the Armenian-historical-cultural heritage. Hasmik Hakobyan highlighted the international colleagues’ support in overcoming the challenges.

David Weis noted that the diplomatic relations between Luxembourg and Armenia has a history of more than 30 years. “It is welcoming that we already have an accredited ambassador IN Armenia; it shows our commitment to develop the political and economic relations,” the guest underscored. He informed that they follow the processes going on in Armenia, and they are aware of the challenges. Emphasizing the Crossroads of Peace project, the Representative of the of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg mentioned that it is a very concrete and understandable proposal, and they support its implementation.

The interlocutors referred to the perspectives of development of bilateral cooperation at parliamentary level and in other spheres.
