From January 26-31, 2024, the delegation of Matenadaran, headed by director Ara Khzmalyan, is visiting the Islamic Republic of Iran with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia. During their visit, they hold meetings with the heads of spiritual and manuscript centres in Spahan, Ghom, and Tehran, as well as archive museums and representatives of the Armenian community. Bishop Sipan Kejejian, the Prelate of the Armenian Community in Isfahan, welcomed the delegation.
The delegation was able to see ongoing work by visiting the archives of the Monastery of Saint Amenaprkich of New Julfa and the archive restoration centre.
Matenadaran has taken the initiative to improve the professional abilities of the New Julfa restorers; as such, they will undergo training courses in Matenadaran in the fall.
The commitment of Matenadaran to preserve Armenian written heritage in diverse centres around the world is evident through this initiative.
