On January 29, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong.
The NA Vice president Hakob Arshakyan also took part in the meeting.
Welcoming the guest, Alen Simonyan thanked the Inter-Parliamentary Union for the engagement in establishing peace in the region.
The Head of Parliament noted that the NA delegation has always been one of the active members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the MPs are represented in the leadership staffs of different bodies of the Organization.

Touching upon the ongoing negotiations with Azerbaijan on signing Peace Treaty, the NA President underscored that the Armenian side is constructive and is open for discussions, which will promote the process of the document signing.
“Armenia is a democratic country: this is already an established fact. We have done and we are doing everything with our international colleagues for establishing peace in the region,” Alen Simonyan stressed.
Martin Chongong highly appreciated the efforts of Armenia in the negotiations of establishing peace and noted that the Inter-Parliamentary Union will support in every way for the implementation of the Peace Treaty.
Reference was also made to the Forum of Young MPs of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Armenia in 2024.
