“The new situation created for people have led to the fact that more companies prefer to operate and invest in Armenia”-Hakob Arshakyan

NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan gives a welcome speech at Annual Conference of Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises

The RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan attended the 23rd Annual Conference of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).

In his welcoming speech, the NA Vice President congratulated the representatives of the UATE and wished them success in their upcoming activities.

Hakob Arshakyan touched upon the sharp growth rates of the high-tech industry in the previous two years, talked about the important circumstances due to which thousands of engineers and hundreds of companies in the field chose to come to Armenia. “First of all, it is noteworthy that this is a direct result of the revolution that took place in 2018. The number of perceptions of corruption in the state, the degree of corruption, the activity and further liberalization of the economy and the new situation created for people have led to the fact that more companies prefer to operate and invest in Armenia,” Hakob Arshakyan recorded.

As the second important circumstance, he underlined the existing and developed High-Tech Industry sector in Armenia: Many companies operating in our country have expanded their branches, and new companies have preferred to establish new branches in Armenia. The third circumstance, according to the NA Vice President, is the ability and willingness of the Armenian people and society to host and show a caring attitude.

Referring to the plans to be implemented in the future, Hakob Arshakyan opined that at this stage they should focus on clarifying the strategic vision of the future. In terms of the development of the field, the NA Vice President highly appreciated the creation of the Science and Technology Development Council attached to the Prime Minister last year.

He noted with satisfaction the fact that the associations are established in our country and are able to accurately and completely present the interests of the business to the authorities, the beneficiaries of the sector. “This year, we are planning to clarify our strategic priorities, and I would like to call on associations and companies to unite and accurately present our priorities at this stage both to Armenia and the international community,” Hakob Arshakyan concluded.

The RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, the UATE Board Chairman Alexandr Yesayan gave speeches at the conference as well and addressed the problems and achievements of the sector, support programmes.

The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan, Ambassadors accredited to the RA, leading companies in the technology sector, the Heads of educational institutions and institutions, the representatives of international organizations attended the conference.
