In Armenia-Bulgaria bilateral inter-state relations, the inter-parliamentary ties are of significant role: The Head of the Armenian Parliament

On February 15, the delegation led by the RA NA President Alen Simonyan being on an official visit in Bulgaria met with the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Zhelyazkov and the parliamentarians of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The meeting began with the private conversation of the heads of parliaments, which followed the meeting in extended format.

The sides documented the close relations existing between Armenia and Bulgaria, underlining that they are based on the friendship historically formed between the two peoples, common values and cultural ties

Welcoming the NA President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Alen Simonyan thanked him for the invitation and warm reception.

The Head of the Armenian Parliament noted that in Armenia-Bulgaria bilateral inter-state relations, the inter-parliamentary ties are of significant role, and their boosting and continuous development are important for Armenia.

“The regular inter-parliamentary dialogue of high level will be a great potential in the development and expansion of Armenia-Bulgaria relations. We should foster the process of the students’ bilateral exchange and the activities of the Friendship Groups,” Alen Simonyan said.

Rosen Zhelyazkov touched upon the Armenian community of Bulgaria, which has a great contribution to the establishment of the Armenian and Bulgarian peoples’ brotherly relations. He also highlighted the activities of the Armenian-Bulgarian Trade-Economic Chamber, Inter-Governmental Commission and the Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

Touching upon the regional situation, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan highlighted the engagement and support of Bulgaria to the Crossroads of Peace project initiated by the Government of Armenia, particularly in the context of the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations and establishment of security and peace in the region.

“Bulgaria welcomes the Crossroads of Peace and is ready to support Armenia in establishing peace in the region,” the Head of Parliament of Bulgaria noted.

The sides exchanged ideas on Armenia-EU visa liberalisation, bilateral and multilateral trade-economic and cultural cooperation.

At the end of the meeting Alen Simonyan left a note in the Book of Honourable Guests, took a tour in the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.
