The status of militiamen as subjects of a crime against the established order of military service will be fixed legislatively

In the sitting of February 28, the National Assembly debated a number of legislative initiatives in the second reading.

The deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Alkhas Ghazaryan is the author of the package of bills on Making Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia and on Making Addendum to the RA Law on Defense.

“As a result of adopting the initiative, the status of militiamen as subjects of a crime against the established order of military service will be fixed legislatively, which will provide an opportunity to give a proper legal assessment to the violations committed by them,” the author of the initiative underlined. According to her, no proposals were presented from the first to the second reading.

The endorsement of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs was presented by the member of the Committee Arpine Davoyan. Welcoming the initiative, the deputy urged her colleagues to vote for it.

The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Ara Mkrtchyan presented the Government’s positive position regarding the initiative.

In the second reading, the MPs also debated the draft law on Making Addenda and Amendment to the law on Tax Service and the package of the attached bills.

According to the Deputy Chairman the RA State Revenue Committee Artur Manukyan, the issue of persons appointed to temporarily vacant positions in the tax and customs services is regulated by the initiative. From the first to the second reading, the deputies did not present proposals. The Government made proposals of a technical nature.

The Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan voiced the endorsement of the Committee.
