The signing ceremony of the agreement of the project aimed at supporting persons forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh and their host communities, funded by the Japanese government and implemented by the UNDP Armenia office, took place

On February 28, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan was present at the signing ceremony of the agreement of the project “Support to the strengthening of social inclusion of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh and the host communities through the restoration and integration of basic infrastructures” launched by the UNDP Armenia office in cooperation with the Armenian government, funded by the Japanese government.

The agreement was signed by the Ambassador of Japan to Armenia Aoki Yutaka and UNDP Resident Representative Natia Natsvlishvili. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan were also present at the event.

In his welcoming speech, the Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed that the Government will continue the work aimed at ensuring long-term stable living conditions for our compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, in order to ensure their dignified life in the Republic of Armenia. In particular, he referred to the measures implemented to ensure access to educational and health services for refugees, affordable housing and employment opportunities, and also emphasized the importance of ensuring the continuity of work aimed at increasing the resilience of host communities.

During the two-year implementation period of the project, UNDP will equally address the needs of refugees and host communities, improving the quality of available services and the accessibility of living conditions in host communities.
