On March 5, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arabic Republic of Egypt Sameh Shoukry. The meeting took place within the framework of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia to Egypt.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Egypt exchanged views on the bilateral agenda and prospects for expanding the political dialogue. The interlocutors emphasized the role of regular high-level reciprocal visits in expanding the scope of Armenian-Egyptian cooperation and its further development in areas of mutual interest.
Issues of regional security were discussed.
Minister Mirzoyan referred to Armenia’s continuous efforts to establish long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus, presenting to his Egyptian counterpart the latest discussions in the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that Armenia’s approaches to the key issues are just and legitimate, based on the need for respect for well-known principles: territorial integrity, sovereignty and jurisdiction. In the context of unblocking regional infrastructures, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the clearly expressed interest and the political will of Armenia to advance the process based also on the principles of reciprocity and equality.
