The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Heriknaz Tigranyan, the deputies of the Committee Gayane Yeghiazaryan and Mariam Poghosyan met with the Country Director of Democracy International Inc., Head of the Project Protection, Inclusion and Empowerment Activity Liesbeth Zonneveld and the representatives of the project.
The project started in 2023, is carried out by the USAID funding. The goal of the project is to improve the life of the vulnerable and marginalized groups through rendering legal regulations, proper services, active cooperation of the state and the NGOs. The project worth 20mln USD is also addressed to the social protection of the people in crisis situations.
During the meeting the directions, the toolkit of the further cooperation with the Committee, by which the Committee can assist the effective implementation of the project.

The key components of the project are the National Assembly-Government-civil society cooperation, the availability of the gender-sensitive legislation and the gender-sensitive budgeting. Heriknaz Tigranyan detailed the best experience of the effective cooperation of the Committee with the civil society, as well as the work being done at the legislative level and the problems of priority for the improvement in the sphere. In this context the needs assessment of the state and on that basis the implementation of the factual researches were highlighted, which later can be basis for legislative amendments.
Those responsible for the project expressed readiness to support in the processes of development of the capacities of the NGOs, as well as in the elaboration of the gender-sensitive legislation and in the gender-sensitive budgeting.
The sides agreed to meet in the near future and discuss the procedural issues and the cooperation formats.
