On March 15, on the initiative of the RA NA Vice President, the Head of the Armenia-India Friendship Group Hakob Arshakyan, a working discussion was held on the theme on Development and Deepening of Relations between Armenia and India.
The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group and the representatives of the relevant structures and departments of the executive body took part in the discussion.
Welcoming the participants in parliament, Hakob Arshakyan noted that the purpose of the joint discussion is the close cooperation between the legislative body and the executive body for the benefit of the development of the Armenia-Indian relations.

The RA Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan in his speech touched upon Armenia-India relations and noted that in recent years the relations with Armenia turned into stage of intensive development. He underscored that the deepening of the development of the Armenian-Indian relations and the progress is one of the foreign political priorities of Armenia, which is enshrined in the Government programme: considerable progress was registered at the level of political dialogue. In the issue of the development of the Armenian-Indian relations the inter-parliamentary cooperation was also highlighted.
The opportunities of the development of the relations in the trade-economic sphere was also debated. Reference was made to the cooperation in the sphere of culture and the implementation of the programmes dedicated to the rise of interest towards each other’s cultures and popularization of the cultural values.
Speaking about cooperation in the sphere of culture, the murals of Ajanta caves of the Armenian painter Sargis Khachaturyan, which could arise interest not only for the foreigners, but also for our public, underlining the Armenian people’s interest in the ancient peoples’ culture and history. The cooperation in the sphere of film production, in the development of tourism and the boosting of inter-human contacts was highlighted.
In the format of exchange of ideas, the deputies emphasized the cooperation in the spheres of tourism and film production, health, migration, the need of increasing the volumes of trade turnover.
The participants also referred to the issues of the engagement of the Republic of Armenia in the development programmes of the regional ways of communication and the Crossroads of Peace project advanced by the Republic of Armenia.
Summing up the discussion the NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan noted that all the efforts should be introduced in the development of the relations with India, expressing conviction that in case of making sufficient efforts realistic results will be registered. In the implementation of the programmes Hakob Arshakyan expressed readiness to support.
An agreement was reached to organize similar discussions also in the near future.
