In the regular sitting of March 19, the Parliament debated a number of legislative initiatives in the second reading.
According to the draft law on Making Addenda to the Law on Audiovisual Media authored by the MPs Alen Simonyan and Artur Hovhannisyan, it is proposed to allow the broadcasting of films and audiovisual programmes containing propaganda of the criminal subculture in public multiplexes only from 12am until 6am. “Our political approach is that we should limit the spread of elements of the criminal subculture and their propaganda in all possible places, first of all protecting our minor citizens,” Artur Hovhannisyan said. During the period from the first to the second reading, technical amendments were introduced and made.
The member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Hasmik Hakobyan presented the endorsement of the Head Committee.
The RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan noted that the Government’s position on the draft is positive and urged the MPs to vote for it.
