The Azeri vandals are destroying the Corners of Glory in the occupied Artsakh educational institutions which perpetuate the memory of the heroes who were martyred for the sake of their motherland.
Since September 27, 2020 Azerbaijan has destroyed dozens of monuments and complexes of Artsakh at the state level.
In December 2020, Azerbaijani vandals destroyed the Armenian monuments of Talish and Madaghis. The Monument Watch, an independent academic platform, reported about the destruction of the monument and the Cross Stone (Khachqar) dedicated to the Artsakh Liberation War in Ukhtadzor village of Hadrut region, demolition of the monument of Aghanus village in Kashatagh region, the destruction of the bust of Anatoly Zinevich, the destruction of the monument Cross Stone of Martakert city, the desecration of Haterk fraternal cemetery, the Avetaranots complex, the Monument of Artsakh hero Ashot Ghulian, the complex dedicated to the memory of victims of Hakaku village of Hadrut region of Artsakh, the monument dedicated to the victims of the Great Patriotic War and Artsakh war in Karintak village of Shushi region of Artsakh, the Armenian Genocide of Shushi city, the victims of the Patriotic War were also targeted by the cultural genocide of Azerbaijan, the memorial dedicated to the victims of the Patriotic War and Genocide victims of Azokh village of Hadrut region, the memorial dedicated to the memory of the victims of Artsakh war in Aknaghbyur, the memorial dedicated to the memory of the freedom fighters of Getavan who died for the liberation of Artsakh.
The foregoing facts once again show that the cultural heritage of Artsakh is under the threat of destruction and appropriation. According to Article 4 of the 1954 Hague Convention “On the Protection of Cultural Values in the Time of Armed Conflicts”, any act of Vandalism, theft, robbery, misappropriation, enmity and counterfeiting of cultural heritage are prohibited.
