Our Director of Public Affairs Jen McAndrew recently visited beautiful Syunik Province.
While there she spoke to inspiring young students in Embassy-sponsored English classes, and met reporters from CivilNet’s Goris Bureau. She visited the active American Corner in Kapan, which offers English language and American cultural resources to the local community.
Jen enjoyed learning about Syunik’s rich cultural heritage and history, including the story of the Great Hermitage of Tatev (previously supported with an Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation grant). Jen especially enjoyed tasting some of Syunik’s culinary traditions. Her favorite dish was Chef Zara Gasparyan’s (Sisian Ceramics) kyalagyosh soup.
