Within the framework of the international project “Fabula Filmmaking Laboratory,” a two-week course entitled “Basics of Cinema” was launched at the Yerevan State Theatre and Film Institute (YSTFI).
The beneficiaries of this course are schoolchildren aged 12-15. The two-week course is being conducted by filmmaker Artyom Baghdasaryan, who is a lecturer at YSTFI.
An educational program has been developed for two weeks, allowing participants to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills. At the end of the event, they will present a joint creative work – a short film. The curriculum covers topics ranging from film theory to filmmaking techniques, atmosphere, editing, and explores Armenian cinema, highlighting the directorial innovations of figures such as Hamo Beknazaryan, Sergey Parajanov, Frunze Dovlatyan, and Artavazd Peleshyan.
By the conclusion of the course, participants will have gained stable knowledge.

According to Hasmik Hovakimyan, the Armenian manager of the project and head of the international Communications’ office of YSTFI, all necessary conditions and opportunities have been created to facilitate the education of young people.
It is noteworthy that the “Fabula Filmmaking Laboratory” international project enables young people to acquire important life skills and learn how to navigate the complexities of the world through filmmaking. By engaging in the process of film education and production, participants will develop a deeper understanding of life’s dynamics and essential tools to effectively address contemporary challenges and crises.
