It is proposed to regulate slaughterhouse activity

April 03,2024 18:03

With the adoption of the legislative initiative, control aimed at regulating slaughterhouse activity will be tightened. That is, in case of violations, the official carrying out state control will have a legal basis to suspend or stop the slaughterhouse activity in case of inspections. This was stated by the RA Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan, at April 2 sitting of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection, presenting the draft laws on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Veterinary Medicine and on Making Addenda to the RA Code on Administrative Offenses in the first reading for debate.

The MPs raised questions about slaughterhouse activities, their replenishment and presented proposals to the Deputy Minister. Tatevik Sargsyan clarified that an amendment was made by the Government’s decision No. 993, where the notion of ‘slaughterhouse point’ was included, that is, people can slaughter animals in slaughterhouses in an easier way by establishing a slaughterhouse.

In this context, the MP Mikayel Tumasyan proposed to improve awareness work in different ways. “If there are Government programmes, amendments, if we have methods to inform the potential beneficiaries, then we should go and inform on the spot so that people are aware,” he said in particular.

Tatevik Sargsyan clarified that the draft laws are not only put to public discussion, but also the corresponding subdivision of the Ministry gives advice on the changing programmes in the regions, among the villagers, in the regional administrations.

The legislative initiative was endorsed by the Committee.
