At April 8 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security, the RA Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan presented the draft law on Ratifying the Memorandum of Understanding on Security Channel between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) of the European Union.
The issues related to the liaison with the security channel infrastructure as well as liaison officer are regulated by the Memorandum.
Arpine Sargsyan informed that the liaison officer does not establish any working relations with the European Union and Europol. He/ She is a full-fledged representative of the Republic of Armenia on behalf of the law enforcement system and is an employee of the Republic of Armenia.
The Deputy Minister noted that the memorandum is aimed at filling in the Agreement on Collaboration between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) of the European Union.

The co-rapporteur, the member of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Vilen Gabrielyan noted that it is designed by the Memorandum to create security channels for quick exchange of information between the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs Europol. According to the MP, the ensuring of the channel security in the zone of responsibility of Armenia means prevention of the effective counterintelligence penetration, unauthorized leak, external deconstructive influence on the channel, information change manipulation, as well as unauthorized transmission of information to the third party.
The Committee endorsed the draft law.
