On May 20, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Jan Lipavský, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The meeting took place within the framework of Minister Mirzoyan’s working visit to Vienna.

The interlocutors touched upon a wide range of issues of cooperation between Armenia and the Czech Republic.

In the context of bilateral cooperation, active political dialogue and mutual willingness to expand cooperation in various fields was commended.

Touching upon the cooperation on the EU platform, both sides stressed the importance of deepening the partnership both in the implementation of democratic reforms and in security issues, particularly in the context of the activities of the EU monitoring mission in Armenia. “We are really significantly deepening relations with the EU, and this applies to all directions. The strong support of the member states in advancing our agenda through the use of existing tools is very important, especially in the conditions of the current geopolitical developments,” the Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and the Czech Republic also exchanged views on regional topics. In the context of the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly the border delimitation process, Minister Mirzoyan stressed the key importance of clear adherence to the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, which had been emphasized by a number of international partners, including the European Union.

Recalling the possibilities of developing regional economic cooperation in case of establishment of stable peace, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that the Armenian side is committed to the implementation of the “Crossroads of Peace” project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, including the unblocking of transport infrastructures, based on respect for sovereignty and national jurisdiction, principles of equality and reciprocity.
