The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan had a meeting with Francina Armengol Socias, the President of the Congress of Deputies of Spain.
The interlocutors discussed the cooperation between the parliaments of Armenia and Spain, as well as the potential of interaction in various fields. Both sides commended the readiness of legislative bodies of the two countries to expand the agenda of bilateral relations.
The Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, including cooperation on international parliamentary platforms.
Developments in the region and the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalisation process was touched upon. Views were also exchanged on Armenia-EU cooperation.
On the same day, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia was hosted at the ‘’Royal Elcano Institute’’, a leading Spanish think tank for international relations and strategic research.
Paruyr Hovhannisyan participated as a speaker in the discussion entitled “Crossroads of Peace. Finding lasting peace in the South Caucasus”.
The Deputy Minister presented the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and the current situation in the South Caucasus region. In the context of unblocking regional communications, Paruyr Hovhannisyan provided a detailed overview of the “Crossroad of Peace” project developed by the government of Armenia as an important guarantee of ensuring economic interconnectivity and peace in the South Caucasus.
