On May 31, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan, more than 40 representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Armenia visited a number of settlements in the Lori region of Armenia to get acquainted with the situation on the ground resulting from the devastating floods.
Representatives of the diplomatic corps were briefed about the scale of damage in the areas affected by the disaster and the ongoing work aimed at eliminating the consequences of the disaster.
The head of the Operational Headquarters for the Management of the Emergency Situation, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Head of the Rescue Service Kamo Tsutsulyan informed the representatives of the diplomatic corps on the preliminary data regarding both damaged and destroyed infrastructures, residential buildings and houses in the disaster zone. In addition, the steps of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, along with the needs for overcoming the consequences of the natural disaster were discussed during the visit.
