President of Artsakh: “They should not try to look for culprits. Nikol Pashinyan should know well whose balance sheet the weapons of Artsakh were on”

June 14,2024 13:30

Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan, while waiting for the examination of the petition to extend the detention of Stepanakert Mayor Davit Sargsyan, spoke to journalists about several accusations made against him by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“In the near future, I will publicly respond all the statements made yesterday in the National Assembly, and the public will learn the truth. The statements made in the National Assembly have nothing to do with reality; they are pure manipulation.

I would like to address several issues. The first is that the people of Artsakh and the government of Artsakh endured only two hours, after which we supposedly wanted to leave. That’s not true. The people of Artsakh have endured for 32 years, and any child from Artsakh over the age of 7 has seen three large-scale wars.

Regarding the recent operations in Artsakh, I mentioned in my speeches that hours after the war started, we realized that we were alone and that resisting the armed forces of Azerbaijan with a ratio of 1 to 12 was not possible. It was necessary to save lives.

It was vitally to do every step to save lives, which the government of Artsakh did.

As for the claim that we left billions of weapons there, in good order, I want to say that Nikol Pashinyan should know well whose balance sheet those weapons were on and who was responsible for them, to whom the defense army was subordinated. Recently, the former Secretary of the Security Council, Samvel Babayan, said that until the last day, the Defense Army was under the control of the Armenian government and was a unit of the Ministry of Defense. This is the truth that our people should know and not try to look for culprits in this matter.

Referring to the military-political leadership of Artsakh in captivity in Baku, whom Nikol Pashinyan called deserters, Samvel Shahramanyan said: “The military-political leadership, which is in the prison of Baku, had remained a living hostage and ensured the evacuation of our population. I will look into it in more detail in the near future.”

Let us also inform you that Judge Masis Melkonyan of the Avan seat of the first-instance criminal court of Yerevan granted the petition of the body implementing the proceedings, replacing Stepanakert Mayor Davit Sargsyan’s prison sentence with two months of house arrest. He had been already in prison for 20 days.
