Parliamentary hearings to be held by decision of Standing Committee on European Integration

On June 21 at 11:00, by the decision of the Standing Committee on European Integration parliamentary hearings will be held in the NA Session Hall on the theme on Proposal of Holding Referendum for Presenting Armenia’s Membership Bid to the European Union.

The Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan informed that the initiative of holding hearings was presented by the Platform of democratic forces and the civil society.

At June 17 convened extraordinary sitting the authors of the proposal also attended and spoke about their expectations on the initiative and importance of holding referendum.

According to the Head of Free Citizen NGO Hovsep Khurshudyan, according some social inquiries, the majority of the RA citizens wants Armenia to be integrated to the EU as a full-fledged member.

In the opinion of the Head of the Party For the Republic Arman Babajanyan, the referendum pursues a goal of raising resistance and resilience of Armenia.

The Committee Chair Arman Yeghoyan and the Committee members welcomed the initiative of holding parliamentary hearings. An opinion was voiced that the results of the referendum can be a guide for the political forces participating in the next elections.
