The Chair of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly Andranik Kocharyan proposes to form student volunteer detachments that will take part in certain engineering works in the positions. According to the MP, the idea of the initiative arose during the visits to the front-line engineering structures with the leadership of the Committee and the Ministry of Defense.
The Committee Chair informed that he debated the proposal with the Committee members he chairs and with the Ministers of Defense and Education, Science, Culture and Sport, getting their approval. According to Andranik Kocharyan, those students who will participate in the project will be encouraged by the state.
The initiative was debated on June 26 with the NA deputies, the representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy, and the Higher Education and Science Committee.
The participants welcomed the idea. It was noted that the proposal was sent to higher education institutions and there are already responses.

The project is planned to be implemented in July-August. The cadets of Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy will be in charge of the student detachments to be formed, girls will also be included in the groups.
Andranik Kocharyan mentioned that the project will give young people the opportunity to participate in the solution of the country’s defense problems, to acquire new skills, to get acquainted with the everyday life of the army. According to the MP, after studying the international experience, it was found that similar projects are implemented in a number of European countries.
The participants debated in detail issues regarding the implementation of the project.
