On July 5, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the delegation of Congress members led by U.S. Senator Roger Wicker.
The interlocutors discussed issues of the agenda of the Armenia-U.S. political dialogue, as well as regional developments.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized: “Recently, we have been developing intensive dialogue with the USA at various levels, and it is very important that about a month ago, we made a joint decision to raise the level of our cooperation to strategic partnership.” Ararat Mirzoyan added that the development of Armenia-US cooperation is also aimed at strengthening Armenia’s resilience, which the Armenian side highly appreciates.

The interlocutors touched upon the course of democratic reforms in Armenia and the significant progress in that direction, as well as the ongoing challenges that the path of democratic development faces under the conditions of current geopolitical developments.
Regional security issues were also discussed. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia briefed on Armenia’s vision for establishing lasting stability and peace in the South Caucasus, including the normalization of relations with neighbours. In the context of the ongoing processes with Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the importance of ensuring the continuity of the delimitation process based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration and signing the negotiated peace treaty.
The unblocking of regional communications, as well as humanitarian issues were also touched upon.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia and U.S. parliamentarians exchanged views on Armenia’s foreign policy and other issues of mutual interest.
