On July 8-10, at the invitation of the International Christian Solidarity, members of the Committee for the Defense of the Fundamental Rights of Artsakh Armenians, created by the decision of the Artsakh National Assembly, visited Geneva and Bern.
The delegation led by Vartan Oskanian, which included international lawyer Karnig Kerkonian and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh Armine Aleksanyan, had a number of meetings with representatives of various UN agencies, human rights organizations and research centers based in Geneva and Bern, as well as with representatives of UN member states. Members of the commission also met with community and federal parliamentarians in Geneva and Bern.
At the heart of the discussions were the issues of collective return of Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, release of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages detained in Baku, protection of Armenian historical-cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh from Azeri desecration and destruction.

On Tuesday, July 9, at the initiative of the International Christian Solidarity, within the framework of the 56th session of the UN Human Rights Council, a side event titled “The keys to sustainable peace in the South Caucasus” was held with the participation of the members of the delegation․ At the event, the provision of the right to collective return of the forcibly displaced people of Nagorno Karabakh was highlighted as an essential part of establishing durable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Within the framework of the visit, members of the committee for the Defense of fundamental rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh also met with representatives of the Armenian community in Switzerland.
