Internal Tension in the US and Our Expectations

July 16,2024 10:30

There are many theories regarding the recent assassination attempt on Trump. Some claim that he injured his own ear and that the shooting had nothing to do with it. In a world where skepticism abounds, one can debunk any claim. Naturally, I am not here to propose hypotheses but to discuss what I believe to be evident.

The assassination attempt, whether orchestrated by a powerful entity or the personal initiative of an unstable individual, highlights the worsening domestic political situation in the United States. It is common for such incidents to occur during pre-election periods in any democratic country. However, the current polarization in the US seems unprecedented, with voters facing critical decisions on deeply fundamental issues related to domestic politics.

The choice is stark: far-left extreme liberalism versus traditional American conservatism. A change in power now implies a significant overhaul of the entire elite and bureaucracy, unlike previous administration changes. The stakes are incredibly high, fueling the existing tension.

How will this affect Armenia? In terms of content, it likely won’t. However, Azerbaijan might exploit the US and global instability to launch another attack on us, similar to what happened four years ago during the Trump-Biden confrontation.

US policy in the South Caucasus remains consistent regardless of the president. Both Biden and Trump administrations aim to distance Armenia from Russia, allocating resources for this purpose. Given the geographical distance, the US might rely on Turkey to manage the situation, potentially reaching an agreement with Russia, offering economic and political benefits.

This is not an accusation or rebuke but an outline of a plausible scenario. I address this context because some compatriots believe, “If Biden stays, we are saved,” or “If Trump comes, we will endure.” In my opinion, they are mistaken.

This is neither an accusation nor even a rebuke to anyone. This is a simple outline of the most likely scenario I can imagine. And I write about it in the following context. it seems to me that those compatriots who say or write: “If Biden stays, we are saved” or “if Trump comes, we will win” are wrong.
