The Council of the European Union has welcomes the intention of the Commission to launch a visa liberalization dialogue with Armenia and to fully associate the Council and the Member States with each step of the dialogue, including in the definition and the assessment of the benchmarks.

The possibility to lift the visa obligations for Armenian citizens will only be considered upon the complete fulfilment of the benchmarks,” the EU Council said in a statement.
