Matena Alumni Gala Evening at Matenadaran

July 31,2024 16:15

Yerevan, Armenia, July 29, 2024 — The Matena Alumni Club organized a splendid open-air gala evening in front of the Matenadaran, attended by Matena alumni and distinguished guests.

The event featured speeches from David Abovyan, President of the Matena Alumni Club and founder of Art-Group; Ruben Hayrapetyan, Co-founder and CEO of Matena; Danica Purg, President of IEDC-Bled School of Management and member of Matena’s International Academic Board; and Veronika Zonabend, social entrepreneur and member of Matena’s International Board.

Danica Purg, in her address, shared her journey of founding a management school in Slovenia 39 years ago and expressed her joy in sharing her experiences with Matena’s alumni, who are now shaping the future of management. She stated, “We started as a small school, but from the outset, we were international and held to high standards. Today, speaking with your alumni, I see the environment that has been fostered within the school, which is highly valued by its graduates. This is what drives a school forward. The true legacy of a school is created by its alumni.”

Ruben Hayrapetyan highlighted in his speech, “We must honestly admit that currently, Armenia is not recognized as a destination for world-class education. Therefore, for any educational institution positioned as international, this is an obvious threat. But the good news is that every threat can be reframed as an exciting challenge. By leveraging the exceptional resources from partners in Armenia and the diaspora, we can collectively change this perception and make Armenia a truly attractive destination for modern high-quality education.”

The gala was attended by over 250 guests, including graduates of the Matena International Business School and representatives from partner organizations.

The event was sponsored by several companies founded and led by Matena alumni.
