Last week, U.S. Embassy Cultural Attaché Nathan Austin met with USG alumnus Hovhannes Khzmalyan, Secretary General of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of Armenia, and Sevak Mkhitaryan, Founder of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation.
Hovhannes Khzmalyan participated in the 2024 Sport for Community: Global Sports Mentoring Program. This five-week immersive mentorship pairs international leaders in disability and adaptive sports with professionals from leading U.S. organizations. Participants develop action plans to expand sports opportunities for people with disabilities both locally and internationally.
During the meeting, Mr. Khzmalyan shared insights from his U.S. exchange experience and discussed how he plans to apply the skills and knowledge gained to benefit Armenia.
