The Armenian parliamentarians thanked the representatives of the country that was the first to officially recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide on April 6, 1965, and talked about the challenges our country is facing and the ongoing aggressive policy of Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the policy of ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan against the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023, Ishkhan Saghatelyan noted that there are dozens of Armenian prisoners of war in Baku prisons and Azerbaijani troops – in the sovereign territories of Armenia. “Despite the statements about peace, it is obvious that Azerbaijan is not inclined to peace and presents new demands to Armenia,” he said.
Clear and targeted evaluations by the friendly countries, as well as the implementation of steps to release the Armenian prisoners of war through possible channels and means, were emphasized.
