The new funds are intended to strengthen democratic values and ensure economic stability in Armenia. This initiative will focus on institutionalizing effective and accountable governance, particularly in the economic sector, promoting civic engagement in democratic consolidation, boosting the competitiveness of targeted industries, improving natural resource management, safeguarding democratic achievements, and addressing economic challenges.
Initially, under a five-year cooperation agreement signed in 2022 between Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and USAID Director in Armenia John Allelo, Yerevan was set to receive a $120 million grant. This new allocation significantly increases the financial support for Armenia’s governance and development efforts.
