October 5, 2024 (Yerevan, Armenia)– Alzheimer’s Care Armenia (ACA), held a highly successful Alzheimer’s Walk in Yerevan to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and support those impacted by dementia. The Walk began at Moskovyan Street and ended at Republic Square, with participants from various backgrounds uniting to show their support for dementia care and brain health.
The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including medical professionals, students, caregivers, and community members, all walking to make a difference in the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s. Special guest speakers, including Kristina Galastyan, MPH, Specialist with the Ministry of Health gave heartfelt speeches highlighting the importance of early detection, accessible care, and the need for funding for research in Alzheimer’s in Armenia.
“ Raising awareness is one of the key components of Armenia’s National Dementia Plan as Alzheimer’s is a rising public health concern ” said the ACA President Dr. Jane Mahakian in her keynote speech.
BIL Armenia, which played a key role in organizing the event, provided volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the walk. Volunteers helped set up the venue, handed out flyers with information on Alzheimer’s, and guided the elderly participants during the walk. Their contribution made the Walk both impactful and hopeful that another generation would be more aware of the struggles of those struggling with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Walk not only highlighted the importance of dementia awareness but also showcased the growing need for accessible dementia care across Armenia, especially in rural areas. With initiatives like this Walk, ACA hopes to continue building a strong foundation of support, awareness, and care for Alzheimer’s patients in Armenia.
