News.am. Members of the European Parliament will discuss the political situation and human rights in Azerbaijan on October 22 and vote for a resolution on October 24, the press service of the European Parliament reports.
“The debate and the resolution will also focus on relations between Azerbaijan and neighboring Armenia. According to a recent statement by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, a peace agreement between the two countries could be reached before the UN climate conference (COP 29) in Baku next month.
Armenia and Azerbaijan are mired in a long-running conflict that escalated last year when Baku launched a military assault and seized the Nagorno-Karabakh region, leading to the exodus of some 100,000 Armenians. MEPs, therefore, strongly condemned the unjustified military attack as a blatant violation of international law and called on the EU to review its relations with Azerbaijan, including in the field of energy,” the press release said.
