Another solar power plant by Ucom and SunChild NGO installed in Vardenis

October 24,2024 11:30

As a result of cooperation between Ucom and the SunChild NGO, another community infrastructure development project has been carried out in Vardenis community of the Gegharkunik region.

A solar power plant with a capacity of 11.6 kWh was installed on the roof of a community-owned building in Garnik Karapetyan Park in Vardenis. These solar panels are designed to cover the energy costs of the park’s lighting and other adjacent structures. Additionally, the surplus energy will be redirected to reduce the electricity costs of other community infrastructure.

“Using sustainable energy sources not only allow communities to save their budgets and address more issues for their residents. It also promotes a lifestyle focused on environmental protection, care for nature, and care for one another. Ucom, as a responsible company, considers it its duty to take care of communities and the environment, and to set an example in this regard,” mentioned Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.

“The installation of this solar plant is an important step not only in reducing energy costs for community infrastructure but also as a symbol of the lifestyle that will make our communities more sustainable and environmentally friendly. At SunChild NGO, we always support solutions that promote the use of renewable energy, contributing to the creation of a cleaner, more energy-efficient, and greener future for our communities,” said Martin Maralchyan, Chief Engineer of SunChild NGO.

“We are very grateful to Ucom for implementing such an important project, especially in Garnik Karapetyan Park, where it was much needed. The solar panels will not only help illuminate our park more, which is the leisure spot for both the elderly and youth, but will also bring significant savings to the community budget. We hope that such initiatives will continue for the welfare and sustainable future of our community,” mentioned Karen Mkrtchyan, First Deputy Head of Vardenis.

It should be noted that within the framework of cooperation between SunChild NGO and Ucom, a similar project was implemented last year in Vanevan, Vardenis community, where a 9.6 kWh capacity plant was installed. This year, solar power plants have also been installed in several different settlements of Tavush and Syunik regions.
