The Prime Minister attends the opening ceremony of Yervand Manaryan’s statue

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the unveiling ceremony of the statue of the People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia, actor, director Yervand Manaryan in Yerevan.

Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, representatives of the cultural sector and others were present at the event.

The opening ceremony of the statue was performed by Zhanna Andreasyan and Yervand Manaryan’s son, Krist Manaryan. The statue with a height of 2.8 meters was installed in the area adjacent to Sayat-Nova Avenue 4 in Yerevan, in front of the Yerevan State Puppet Theater named after Hovhannes Tumanyan. The statue was erected on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous artist.

By the decision of the Government, 65 million AMD was allocated for the preparation and installation of the statue of Yervand Manaryan. The sculptor of the bronze statue is Armenak Vardanyan, a member of the Union of Artists of Armenia, and Mikayel Misakyan is the architect.

The opening ceremony of the statue was followed by the stamp redemption ceremony and a photo exhibition dedicated to the famous actor’s 100th birthday. One stamp dedicated to “Greate Armenians: 100th birth anniversary of Yervan Manaryan” was put into circulation. Yervand Manaryan (1924-2020) is depicted on the 380 AMD nominal value stamp. In the right part of the stamp, there are the inscriptions “100 ANNIVERSARY”, “YERVAND MANARYAN” and “Armenian actor, director” in Armenian and English languages.
