Strasbourg, 19.11.2024 – On the occasion of the 1000th day of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers has adopted the following declaration :
“For 1000 days, Russia has been pursuing a war of aggression against Ukraine in flagrant violation of international law, including the United Nations Charter and the Statute of the Council of Europe.
“For 1000 days, the Ukrainian people have endured immense suffering; thousands of Ukrainian children have been illegally deported, thousands of innocent civilians have been killed or injured, and millions more have been forced to flee their homes, being temporarily displaced in Ukraine and seeking shelter across Europe.
“For 1000 days, we have been inspired by the resilience and courage shown by the Ukrainian people in defence of their country and for all those who believe in the values of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
