These individuals, unlawfully held and subjected to inhumane treatment, are being used as political pawns in a dangerous game of leverage and manipulation. Armenian National Committee of Canada

The detention of over 24 Armenian prisoners of war and civilians by Azerbaijan is not just a violation of international law—it’s a harrowing reminder of how fragile human rights can be in the face of unchecked aggression. These individuals, unlawfully held and subjected to inhumane treatment, are being used as political pawns in a dangerous game of leverage and manipulation. This directly contradicts international conventions, including the Geneva Conventions, which mandate the humane treatment and swift release of prisoners of war following the cessation of hostilities.

This issue is not just about geopolitics; it’s about upholding the principles of justice, accountability, and the intrinsic value of human life. We cannot allow the voices of these detainees and their families to be drowned out in silence. Now, more than ever, is the time for global leaders, organizations, and individuals to stand together and demand accountability.
