Debate in Committee on Ten Years in the Eurasian Economic Union: Results and Perspectives

On 2 January 2025, will be ten years of the membership of the Republic of Armenia to the EEU. In the last 5-6 years, the RA worked effectively, and by the international partners’ assessment rather high economic growth was recorded.

The Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Vagharshak Hakobyan said this.

On December 16, the debate on Ten Years in the Eurasian Economic Union: Results and Perspectives was held in the Committee, in which the representatives of the legislative and executive bodies took part.

“The membership to the EEU also promoted to providing IT high quality, as well as the migrants’ inflow,” Vagharshak Hakobyan noted, adding that Armenia is one of the most important links connecting the EEU to the world.

According to the Deputy Minister of Economy Narek Hovakimyan, over the past ten years, the EAEU has emerged as a successful integration union. During the ten months of 2024, the trde turnover passed 11 billion USD threshold with the EEU countries.

The Deputy Minister of Finance Avag Avanesyan gave information on the participation of the residents in the RF and in Belarus.

The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank Hovhannes Khachatryan noted that in terms of financial intermediation and access to resources, the Agreement On the Order of Exchange of Information Entering in the Credit Stories within the Eurasian Economic Union has been signed and ratified by all countries.

The rapporteurs answered the deputies’ questions, presenting details on exports, economic diversification, and the dynamics of exports of goods from Armenia to the EEU member states.
