At the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Luxembourg օn December 17, the opening ceremony of the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sergey Parajanov took place in Maison de la culture “A Rousen” in Pétange. The exhibition was co-organized by the Municipality of Pétange.
Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Jean Marie Halsdorf, the mayor of Pétange and Mr. Tigran Balayan, Ambassador of Armenia to Luxembourg. Mr. Halsdorf noted that the exhibition is another expression of solidarity towards Armenia and is a practical example of the established cooperation with the Armenian city of Dilijan, of which cultural exchange is a significant aspect.
Ambassador Tigran Balayan expressed his words of gratitude to Mr. Jean Marie Halsdorf, the mayor of Pétange and the City Council for hosting the event. He thanked the Sergey Parajanov museum in Yerevan and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia for providing necessary materials for the exhibition. He particularly emphasized that UNESCO included Sergey Parajanov’s anniversary in its Calendar of anniversaries of eminent personalities and important events for the 2024-2025 cycle, emphasized Parajanov’s great contribution and prominent role in the development of art, as well as mentioned that the President of Ukraine awarded the maestro Parajanov with the “National Legend of Ukraine” award.
