New Year’s and Christmas Greetings from Zareh Sinanyan, RA High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Diaspora,

I extend my warmest wishes to you on the joyful occasions of the New Year and Christmas.

The year 2024 has been a time of significant developments for both Armenia and the Diaspora. It has presented us with new opportunities to reinforce a state-centered vision and deepen the bonds of cohesion within the framework of Armenia-Diaspora collaboration.

In our daily efforts, we have remained committed to fostering open dialogue, building mutual trust with Armenian communities worldwide, and strengthening the Diaspora’s active involvement in the life of the Homeland.

2024 was particularly significant for us with the hosting of the second Global Armenian Summit, which brought together over 1,000 participants from both the Diaspora and Armenia. It served as a key platform for advancing the Armenia-Diaspora agenda and strengthening our bonds.

In addition, our Office’s traditional programs continued with great enthusiasm. For the fifth consecutive year, a new generation of Diaspora Armenian specialists joined the Armenian public administration system through the iGorts program. The Step Home program welcomed 600 young Armenians from 20 countries. The Diaspora Youth Ambassadors network grew with new participants, and the DiasPro volunteer program proudly introduced its first group of volunteers.

The first state-run Repatriation and Integration Center in Armenia’s history has welcomed hundreds of repatriates this year, providing a range of support programs and initiatives. Additionally, it has offered online counseling to many compatriots living in the Diaspora who are considering repatriation.

The establishment of the Institution of Commissioners for Diaspora Affairs has been pivotal in strengthening connections with Diaspora communities. By the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, 17 commissioners have been appointed, spanning from Europe to the United States.

The year was also marked by my visits to various Armenian Diaspora communities, both near and far. I had the honor of meeting with our compatriots in Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, France, the USA, Russia, and other countries. These visits provided a valuable opportunity to discuss key issues of cooperation with our communities, learn about the challenges they face on the ground, present the activities of the office, and explore ways in which the Diaspora can engage in the development programs of the Homeland.

It is essential to emphasize that our partners, both in the Diaspora and Armenia, have played an important role in the successful implementation of all our programs and initiatives. It is also encouraging to see that the circle of partners has grown this year, introducing new forms of cooperation.

Dear compatriots,

I am confident that the achievements of 2024, along with the dialogue fostered in an atmosphere of mutual trust, have strengthened the foundation for our work in the year ahead.

As we step into 2025, we do so with the same resolve and belief that pan-Armenian unity and a state-centered ideology are essential prerequisites for Armenia and the Diaspora’s continued progress.

In the upcoming year, the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs will carry forward its mission with a range of new program initiatives. Our focus will be on collaborating with the professional communities within the Diaspora and expanding opportunities for the involvement of our compatriots in Armenia. In the summer of 2025, we look forward to hosting the National Youth Forum for the second time, bringing together hundreds of young people from both the Diaspora and Armenia under one roof.

Dear sisters and brothers of the Diaspora,

May 2025 be a year of sustainable development, new achievements, and successes for all Armenians.

May every initiative, whether in the Homeland or the Diaspora, follow a path of impact and success.

Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!
