On January 22, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to the United States, in cooperation with the “Things to do DC” organization, initiated another cultural evening dedicated to Sergey Parajanov, whose name was included in the UNESCO Calendar of Anniversaries of Famous People and Important Events 2024-2025.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Lilit Makunts spoke about the rich Armenian cultural heritage, the world-famous Armenian artists, in particular, referring to the activities of Sergey Parajanov. Alvard Semirjyan, PhD, associate professor at Yerevan State University, presented Parajanov’s art and works through the screening of excerpts from the film “The Color of Pomegranate”. The evening was concluded with the performance of famous works by Komitas, Arno Babajanyan and Aram Khachaturian by pianist Naira Babayan.
